Early childhood education (ECE) in India faces significant challenges despite the majority of children, slightly over 70%, attending pre-primary education. There are critical gaps in the quality of ECE programs, impacting the educational outcomes of millions of children. Approximately 20 million of the most marginalized children are excluded from preschool, severely affecting their survival, growth, and overall development.
Another major obstacle in ECE is the lack of resources and accessibility. Insufficient supplies and a shortage of trained teachers hinder the provision of high-quality early learning opportunities. Addressing these resource limitations is crucial to improving the effectiveness and reach of early childhood education across India.
Research demonstrates that high-quality early childhood experiences are strongly correlated with improved health, social, and economic outcomes in adulthood.

The Civil Engineering Programme at M.H. Saboo Siddik College of Engineering (MHSSCE) was established in 1984 under the name Construction Engineering and was rebranded as the Civil Engineering Department in 2001 to reflect a broader academic and professional focus. Accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) and part of a NAAC-accredited institute, the department has continuously evolved to meet industry standards and academic excellence. In keeping with this commitment, it will be introducing a postgraduate program in Construction Management starting from the academic year 2025, further enhancing opportunities for advanced learning and specialization.
The Programme envisions “To pioneer developments in Civil Engineering by creating professionals with global competence,” and is driven by its mission to produce morally responsible, highly competent technocrats equipped with strong leadership qualities. It comprises a team of 10 qualified faculty members—1 professor, 1 associate professor, and 8 assistant professors—most of them are doctorate. The department has a strong legacy of academic excellence, with students frequently earning university ranks and participating in technical events at national, state, and intercollegiate levels. Alumni of the department occupy prestigious positions in reputed organizations and continue to maintain close connections with their alma mater. To promote academic engagement and showcase departmental accomplishments, the department publishes TAMEER, a biannual newsletter that highlights activities, achievements, and technical contributions from faculty and students alike.
