Humanities and Applied Sciences
The Department of Humanities and Applied Sciences plays a pivotal role in the academic framework of an engineering institution by delivering foundational courses in basic sciences and humanities to students across all engineering disciplines. Its primary objective is to establish a strong academic base in core subjects such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Professional Communication & Ethics. These disciplines are essential for developing the analytical, conceptual, and communication competencies required for a successful engineering education.
The department comprises a team of highly qualified and experienced faculty members, including five Ph.D. holders. Our faculty is well-regarded not only for delivering the complete prescribed curriculum but also for inspiring students to go beyond textbooks, fostering a deeper theoretical and practical understanding of the subject matter.
At MHSSCOE, we take pride in our committed and dynamic faculty who consistently strive to address and resolve student queries with dedication and empathy. Their goal is to nurture the intellectual and personal growth of each student, preparing them to graduate as well-rounded, industry-ready professionals.
Given that the department primarily engages with first-year engineering students, special emphasis is placed on creating a unified academic environment for learners from diverse social, linguistic, and economic backgrounds. Our faculty members take proactive measures to guide students in adapting to the professional academic setting by encouraging punctuality, academic discipline, appropriate vocabulary, and responsible conduct.
In addition to academic instruction, the faculty also plays a vital advisory role in familiarizing students with the university’s credit and grading systems, as well as other institutional rules and procedures—often encountered by students for the first time.
The department employs a well-rounded teaching methodology that includes lectures, tutorials, laboratory sessions, and remedial classes as needed. Innovative teaching strategies, engaging lectures, regular assignments, and active student-teacher interaction are all integral parts of our pedagogical approach.
Through a combination of academic rigor, personalized mentorship, and ethical guidance, the Department of Humanities and Applied Sciences ensures that students are well-prepared for the challenges of their engineering journey and beyond.

The Applied Science Department at M.H. Saboo Siddik College of Engineering is anchored by a team of highly qualified, experienced, and dedicated faculty members committed to nurturing academic excellence. Each faculty member plays an active role in ensuring that students not only grasp the fundamentals of the university curriculum but are also well-prepared to meet the challenges of an increasingly competitive world beyond the classroom.
Recognizing the transition students undergo from higher secondary education to an engineering curriculum, the department implements a structured support system. Faculty Mentors are assigned to each student of First-Year Engineering to guide and address the academic and personal needs of students during this crucial phase.
Through continuous academic monitoring, personalized mentorship, and a focus on foundational knowledge, the department empowers students to adapt effectively, build strong conceptual understanding, and perform with confidence in their university examinations.
